Weymouth Research Hub Brightens Up for Christmas

Weymouth Research Hub has been brightened up in time for Christmas with help from talented local photographers.

Staff at the hub partnered with Weymouth Camera Club to select twelve images of the area, as part of efforts to build links with the local community.  The photographs were unveiled at a special ceremony . First, second and third places were also awarded.

Click through this gallery to see the twelve selected images.

Now everyone who comes forward to take part in vital, life-saving health research studies will be able to admire the new wall art. The pictures, printed onto canvas, decorate the main corridors in public areas and every clinic room.

The winning images were voted for by research teams at two NHS Trusts - Dorset County Hospital and Dorset HealthCare, as well as the core team at the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network Wessex.

Sarah Doyle, Head of Research at Dorset County Hospital, said: “We’ve loved working with Weymouth Camera Club on this special project. The pictures are an integral part of the renovations we’re undertaking in the building. They really capture the local area, and make the hub so colourful and welcoming.”

Hazel Burt, Lead Research Practitioner at Dorset HealthCare, said: “Weymouth Camera Club have really done us proud with these incredible images. It was so hard to choose the shortlist, and even harder to choose the winners. Well done to everyone who put their photographs forward.”

Ruth Baker, Secretary of Weymouth Camera Club, said: “We’ve all enjoyed taking part in this - 78 images were sent in and it's been a good collaborative activity and lovely to look around the hub today and understand more about the work here.”
